KATHMANDU: The Legislative Management Committee of the National Assembly has finalized provisions regarding the mandatory retirement of civil servants, in line with the approval by the House of Representatives.

In a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, the committee discussed the Federal Civil Service Bill and reached consensus on previously unresolved provisions related to mandatory retirement, planning to implement them in three phases.

According to the committee’s agreement, once the bill becomes law, civil servants will retire due to age at 58 in the first year of implementation, 59 in the second year, and 60 from the third year onward.

If the bill is passed by both houses, employees reaching the age of 58 this year will retire under the first phase, followed by retirements at ages 59 and 60 as per subsequent provisions.

The bill, agreed upon by the Legislative Management Committee, will become law only after it is passed by both the National Assembly and the House of Representatives and authenticated by the President.
