Foreign Minister Khanal and Indian counterpart Jaishankar hold bilateral talks in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shisir Khanal, held high-level delegation talks with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

During the meeting, Minister Khanal reiterated that Nepal accords the highest priority to its relations with India, emphasizing that the new government carries “no past baggage” and is driven by a decisive mandate for economic transformation and result-oriented diplomacy.

He also expressed gratitude to India for ensuring a smooth supply of essential commodities like fuel and fertilizers, while referencing a shared vision to advance ties with an open heart.

In response, Dr. Jaishankar welcomed the Nepali delegation and reaffirmed India’s commitment to partnering for mutual prosperity, trade, energy, and cross-border connectivity.

Highlighting the special, trust-based bond rooted in shared cultural traditions and close people-to-people ties, Jaishankar expressed confidence that the discussions have given India-Nepal relations a new direction to realize their full potential.
