KATHMANDU: The Sudurpashchim Provincial Government spent Rs 20.815 billion, or 62.26 percent, of its Rs 33.432 billion budget in the fiscal year 2025/26, with capital expenditure remaining below 60 percent, according to the Provincial Comptroller Office.

Of the total allocation, Rs 13.592 billion was earmarked for current expenditure, of which Rs 9.248 billion (68.04 percent) was spent. Capital expenditure totaled Rs 11.566 billion, or 58.33 percent, against an allocation of Rs 19.829 billion.

Among ministries, the Ministry of Social Development recorded the highest overall budget utilization at 71.53 percent, followed by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment at 71.46 percent. The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development spent 60.05 percent of its budget, while the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives utilized 58.68 percent. The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers spent 51.80 percent, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs utilized 52.05 percent.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law recorded the lowest expenditure, spending only 30.76 percent of its allocated budget, including 29.43 percent of current expenditure and 31.72 percent of capital expenditure.

Among provincial agencies, the Provincial Legislature posted the highest overall budget utilization at 73.18 percent. The Provincial Public Service Commission spent 99.77 percent of its capital budget, while the Provincial Policy and Planning Commission utilized 78.12 percent of its capital allocation.

The province also disbursed Rs 2.749 billion, or 75.55 percent, of the Rs 3.639 billion allocated to local governments during the fiscal year.
