KATHMANDU: The closed session of the CPN-UML’s second Statute Convention has begun.
The session opened with a moment of silence in memory of party founder Pushpalal, the pioneer of multi-party people’s democracy Madan Bhandari, the first elected communist Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari, and other martyrs.
Party Chairman KP Sharma Oli presented the political report, while General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel outlined the first day’s agenda and presented the party’s code of conduct.
Today, Vice Chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel will propose amendments to the party statute, and General Secretary Pokhrel will present the organizational report.
Reports will also be presented by the heads of the party’s key commissions: Chairman Keshav Badal for the Central Discipline Commission, Dr. Pushpa Kandel for the Central Audit Commission, Dr. Bijay Subba for the Central Election Commission, and Amrit Kumar Bohora for the Central Advisory Council.
Following all reports, Standing Committee member Karna Thapa is scheduled to present a dissenting opinion, concluding the main agenda of the closed session.
