JHAPA:The Nepal Red Cross Society’s Jhapa branch has sent 71 pints of blood to Kathmandu after hospitals in the Valley faced an acute shortage.

According to branch president Lokraj Dhakal, the blood consignment was transported on a Buddha Air flight at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.

He said the supply was urgently arranged to ensure that treatment of the injured from Monday’s Gen Z protests in Kathmandu would not be interrupted.

Protests were also held in Jhapa on Monday, where several youths were injured in Damak. In response, the District Administration Office imposed prohibitory orders in Damak and Birtamod until 5:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Chief District Officer Gopal Kumar Adhikari confirmed that the restrictions have now been lifted.
