KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) has taken 774 electric vehicles into custody under suspicion of customs evasion.
The electric vehicles had entered Nepal through the Korala border crossing in Mustang.
APF Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bishnu Prasad Bhatta stated that the vehicles were intercepted on Wednesday night from Jomsom in Mustang, Kusma in Parbat, and Hemja in Kaski.
A comprehensive security mobilization was deployed to seize the vehicles, drawing personnel from the APF Nepal No. 33 Batallion (Mustang), Myagdi Batallion, No. 25 Chandika Battalion (Parbat) and No. 24 Kalika Battalion (Kaski).
In a related operation, police also detained two additional vehicles along the Pasang Lhamu highway section in Nuwakot.
According to the APF, preparations are currently underway to hand over all the detained vehicles to the Department of Customs for necessary investigation.
