NEPALGUNJ: A clash at the Nawasta Juvenile Correctional Home in Banke has left five people dead and seven others injured.

According to Jail Chief Jalandhar Bhusal, the incident occurred when juveniles attempted to force open the gates to escape.

Out of 585 inmates in the jail, 149 and 76 from the juvenile home had tried to flee. The situation escalated partly because adult offenders and juveniles were kept in the same facility.

The injured were rushed to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj, where five succumbed during treatment. The remaining injured are receiving care at various health institutions in the district.
