30 dead, over 1,000 injured in Gen Z protests: Health Ministry

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that 30 people have lost their lives and more than 1,000 have been injured during the ongoing Gen-Z protests across Nepal.

According to the ministry, 1,033 people sustained injuries during the demonstrations. Of them, 713 have been discharged after treatment, while 253 remain hospitalized nationwide.

Civil Service Hospital received the largest number of patients, admitting 436 protesters. While 344 have been discharged, six succumbed to injuries during treatment.

At the Trauma Center in Kathmandu, 161 injured were admitted. Of these, 58 are still under treatment, while eight have died.

In Nepalgunj, Bheri Hospital treated 28 injured protesters, with five confirmed dead. Other fatalities include two at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, three at Frontline Hospital, one at Teaching Hospital, two at KMC, and three at Everest Hospital.

Overall, patients injured in the protests have been treated at 28 hospitals across the country, highlighting the scale of the crisis.
