78 vehicles, 31 physical structures damaged in Tanahu during GenZ demonstrations

DAMAULI: With gradual normalcy returned after tight security arrangement in place following the two-day scourge across the country, the local authority here began collecting details on the damages of property.

A total of 78 vehicles and 31 physical structures-both public and private- were damaged during the recent GenZ demonstrations in Tanahun district.
According to data collected by the District Police Office, Tanahun, the damage ranged from complete to partial and minor.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ashok Thapa reported that among two-wheelers, 38 were completely damaged, 10 partially damaged, and two sustained minor damage. Among four-wheelers, 17 were completely damaged and 11 partially damaged.

Of the official two-wheelers, 34 were destroyed, three partially damaged, and one sustained slight damage. In case of private two-wheelers, four were destroyed, seven partially damaged, and one was slightly damaged. Among government-owned four-wheelers, 17 were destroyed and 11 partially damaged.

Regarding physical infrastructures, four government office buildings turned into ashes, while 17 got partial damages, and one sustained minor damage. Additionally, nine private structures suffered partial damage, according to DSP Thapa.

During the protests on September 9, buildings and vehicles belonging to the District Administration Office, District Court, District Coordination Committee, Byas Municipality, Land Revenue Office, Inland Revenue Office, Water Resources and Irrigation Division Office, and the Division Forest Office were vandalized and set on fire.

Likewise, the offices of major political parties, including the Nepali Congress, the CPN (UML), and the CPN (Maoist Centre), were also vandalized and set ablaze.
