GAZA CITY: Israeli bombardment has killed more than 50 people in Gaza, with the United Nations condemning the attacks, saying the military is “inflicting terror on the Palestinian population of Gaza City and forcing tens of thousands to flee.”
The Global Sumud Flotilla reported explosions and communications jamming as drones hovered over the area, following Israel’s pledge to “take the necessary measures” to prevent the flotilla from breaching the sea blockade of Gaza.
The death toll continues to rise in early Israeli strikes on Palestinians, with Gaza City — the main urban center under siege — experiencing the heaviest casualties.
The attack, widely criticised internationally, aims to capture the city amid ongoing urban combat.
Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 65,382 people and wounded 166,985 since October 2023. Thousands more are believed buried under the rubble.
A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7 attacks and about 200 were taken captive.
