CHITWAN: The Narayangadh–Muglin road section, which had remained obstructed for a total of 105 hours within a week, has been operating smoothly since last night.

The road had been blocked for a long time due to repeated landslides at Tuin Khola since Friday.

According to Narayan Lamichhane, Chief of the Chitwan Division Road Office, two-way traffic resumed at Tuin Khola from 11:35 PM on Thursday after clearing the landslide debris.

He said there is no immediate risk of further landslides at the location, so there is no cause for alarm.

“Small landslides can now be cleared easily. A landslide that occurred two days ago at Namsi had also loosened the stuck rocks, so the immediate risk of further slides has reduced. At present, the road looks safe,” Lamichhane said.

“However, since landslides with mud occur during rainfall and dry slides happen when the weather is sunny, even though there is no immediate risk, we cannot be completely assured. We request travelers to move cautiously,” he added.

Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal said that all vehicles halted during the blockage were dispatched to their destinations last night itself.

He added that, despite the large landslide, the work was completed faster than expected due to the dedicated efforts of the teams, and currently, all roads passing through Chitwan are open for travelers.
