KATHMANDU: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to convene its special general convention in mid-December.
A two-day Central Committee meeting concluded on Friday formed a General Convention Organizing Committee under the coordination of party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
“All Central Committee members will also be part of the organizing committee. A secretariat of current office bearers will be formed to oversee daily functions,” said party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota.
Citing the need to reorganize the party and leadership following the Gen Z revolt, the party decided to hold the special general convention.
The meeting at Pragya Bhawan, Kamaladi, formed 10 groups to discuss the political report presented during the session.
The meeting concluded that elections must be held on time, stressing that national sovereignty and democracy are at risk.
The party also decided to seek unity with socialist alliance members.
“We have decided to unite with like-minded forces and call for broader polarization,” spokesperson Sapkota said.
The party also resolved to investigate leaders’ property, Sapkota added.
Similarly, the Maoist Center will mobilize volunteers for the reconstruction of public property.
