JANAKPUR: The District Administration Office of Dhanusha has imposed a curfew in Janakpur.

The restriction comes after rising tensions between two communities in Ward No. 20 of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City.

Chief District Officer of Dhanusha, Shankarhari Acharya, informed that the curfew was declared following clashes between two communities in Rupaitha earlier today.

According to the official notice, the curfew will take effect from 6:30 PM today, prohibiting any gatherings, processions, slogan shouting, meetings, or collective events in the area.

The tension escalated during the immersion of Durga idols, which triggered disputes between the communities.

As per the order, demonstrations, gatherings, or processions will not be allowed along the road to Lohana in the east, the path to Basahi in the west, Baba Petrol Pump Six Lane in the north, and Ganguli Bridge in the south of Rupaitha.

Last month, clashes also occurred between two communities during the immersion of Ganesh idols.
