KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board has urged local communities, tourism operators, and relevant authorities to ensure the safety of around 20,000 foreign tourists currently in Nepal, as heavy rainfall continues across the country.
The board called on locals to provide food, shelter, and essential support to tourists, emphasizing that assistance should be offered without price inflation.
Tourists have been advised to travel only with registered travel companies and licensed guides, check road conditions before traveling, and contact the Tourism Crisis Hotline at 911440 for any emergencies.
Tour operators have been instructed to keep travelers updated, maintain constant contact with drivers and guides, and prepare rescue contacts, as continuous rain is raising the risk of landslides, floods, sudden snowfall, and road blockages across the country.
