KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting has been rescheduled for October 14.
According to party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, the decision to postpone the meeting—originally set for October 12—was made at the office bearers’ meeting held on Saturday at the party’s central office in Sanepa, citing insufficient preparations.
The meeting, which included members of the Performance and Consultation Committee, was held over three days but failed to reach a consensus on issues related to the party’s upcoming general convention, leading to the postponement.
Spokesperson Mahat said the party will hold both formal and informal discussions before the Central Committee meeting to develop a common understanding on convention-related matters, after which the agendas will be presented.
While there is a general agreement on holding the convention as soon as possible, he noted that the party has yet to reach a conclusion on a practical date.
Mahat further stated that the upcoming Central Committee meeting will fix the date for the general convention and make necessary decisions regarding the current political situation.
He also remarked that the government has not shown sufficient seriousness in preparing for the upcoming elections.
