Nearly 2,500 signatures collected demanding Nepali Congress general convention

KATHMANDU: So far, 2,464 delegates of the Nepali Congress have signed in favor of holding a general convention, according to central committee member Madhu Acharya.

The count was reported as of Monday evening.“This number is as of Monday evening,” Acharya told Nepal News.

In the party’s 14th general convention held in 2021, a total of 4,347 delegates participated. Acharya noted that more than half of those participants have now signed the petition.

The central committee of the party will begin its meeting from today.

According to Acharya, the collected signatures are planned to be submitted after the ongoing central working committee meeting.

Following the Gen Z-led uprising, debates over leadership change within the Nepali Congress have intensified.
