KATHMANDU: Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) Coordinator and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that no revolution can be institutionalized without clearly identifying friend and foe.
He urged Gen Z activists to recognize their true allies in their struggle. Addressing a tea reception and greetings exchange program organized on the occasion of Deepawali, Nepal Sambat, and Chhath by the All Nepal Trade Union Federation at the Maoist Centre’s central office in Parisdanda on Saturday, Prachanda remarked, “In any revolution, you must learn to distinguish between your friends and enemies. We were once labeled terrorists too.”
Referring to the current youth-led “Gen Z movement,” Prachanda advised, “You should recognize who your friends and foes are. Even we were called terrorists when we fought for the rights of the people.”
He added that branding those who fight for the people’s rights as terrorists is not new. “A certain ideology always seeks to label movements for justice as terrorism.
We were also called terrorists when we fought for the rights of oppressed classes, castes, regions, genders, and communities. Today, similar language is being used against you too. One must remain vigilant against such tendencies,” he cautioned.
Prachanda further emphasized that the key to any successful revolution lies in identifying true allies.“It’s essential to recognize those who care for you and stand by your side.
If you mistake your enemy for a friend, the revolution is bound to fail,” he concluded.
