KATHMANDU: Home Minister Omprakash Aryal has stated that no citizen, including former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, has the privilege to stay above the law.
He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a discussion with those injured during the Gen Z movement at Singha Durbar.
Aryal clarified that the directive preventing people from leaving the Kathmandu Valley was issued not by the government, but by the investigation commission.
He also emphasized that he never claimed political parties were responsible for keeping weapons looted during the Gen Z movement, although he noted some parties might wish to collect them.
The minister stressed that the country progresses through non-violence, not violence, and urged political parties to foster a peaceful environment for upcoming elections.
Aryal also claimed that former Energy Minister Deepak Khadka was abroad when his interview with a media outlet was conducted but returned to Nepal by the time it was published, advising journalists to question Khadka directly for clarification.
