KATHMANDU: National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has reaffirmed Nepal’s unwavering commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity.

Addressing the 151st General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday, Dahal highlighted the critical role of parliaments in addressing global challenges such as armed conflicts, climate change, instability, and corruption.

He emphasized that human dignity and humanitarian laws are under serious threat in the current global context and called for stronger parliamentary engagement to safeguard these principles.

Dahal noted that the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal has retained its ‘A’ status accreditation at the international level, reflecting Nepal’s credibility in human rights protection.

He further explained that Nepal has been effectively implementing the Paris Principles, which ensure constitutional guarantees, institutional capacity, pluralism, and sufficient resources for human rights bodies.

Reiterating Nepal’s dedication to human rights, good governance, and international cooperation, Dahal urged the global community to work collectively to promote peace, justice, and sustainable development.
