KATHMANDU: India has secured a spot in the semifinals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 after defeating New Zealand by 53 runs in the league stage match.
Batting first, India posted an impressive total of 340 runs for the loss of three wickets in 49 overs.
The match was initially reduced to 49 overs due to rain, and later cut down to 44 overs again. This revised the target for New Zealand to 325 runs in 44 overs.
In response, New Zealand managed only 271 runs for eight wickets in their allotted overs.
For India, opener Pratika Rawal smashed a brilliant 122, while Smriti Mandhana added 109 runs, and Jemimah Rodrigues contributed a vital 76.
In bowling, Renuka Singh Thakur and Kranti Goud took two wickets each.
With this victory, India became the fourth team to reach the semifinals, joining Australia, England, and South Africa.
