KATHMANDU: After heavy snowfall, a total of 949 people have been rescued from the high Himalayan regions of Manang, Mustang, and Myagdi.

According to Armed Police Force, a joint rescue team comprising the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police rescued 765 people from Manang, 22 from Mustang, and 162 from Myagdi who had been trapped since the night of October 27.

Due to adverse weather conditions that made helicopter flights impossible, the rescue teams were deployed via land routes to bring the stranded people to safety.

So far, 650 Nepalis and 100 foreigners from Manang, 12 Nepalis and 10 foreigners from Mustang, and 145 Nepalis and 17 foreigners from Myagdi — totaling 934 rescued individuals — have been safely evacuated.

Meanwhile, the rescue of 15 more people trapped at Tilicho Base Camp in Manang is still ongoing.
