KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to leave for Qatar today to attend the Second World Summit for Social Development, which will take place in Doha from November 4 to 6.

At the invitation of Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President Paudel will lead a 12-member Nepali delegation to the summit.

According to Foreign Ministry, President Paudel is slated to address the main session of the summit on November 4.

This summit is being organized after a gap of 30 years, following a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.

The first such summit was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.

During his stay in Doha, President Paudel is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the Amir of Qatar, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and other high-level dignitaries.

Focused on advancing global cooperation in social development, the summit aims to strengthen collaboration and shared commitments among countries.

President Paudel is expected to return to Nepal on November 6 after completing his official visit.
