KATHMANDU: Dr. Nicholous Bhusal, who has recently made controversial statements against Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Sah, and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, was arrested today in Gorkha.

He was taken into custody at Saraswati Ashram in Gorkha Municipality–8 by a team from the Valley Crime Investigation Office.

The police had been monitoring Bhusal for making inflammatory statements on social media aimed at inciting violence.

A few days ago, Bhusal made anarchic remarks in Kathmandu against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and then-Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who had resigned following the Gen Z protests, even going so far as to threaten to burn their homes.

On Saturday, during a press conference at Sambaad Dabali, Bhusal referred to Oli and Lekhak as “murderers” for their role in suppressing the Gen Z movement on September 8.

He warned that if the government did not take action against these leaders, his group would carry out attacks on their homes.

Bhusal, like Kathmandu Mayor Sah, criticized the government for not taking action against the former Prime Minister and Home Minister.

He also made offensive remarks calling Prime Minister Sushila Karki a “hatchet-wielder.”

When Bhusal attempted to stage a demonstration at Maiti Ghar on October 9, the police took him into custody.

A medical examination at the Nepal Police Hospital indicated cannabis use, after which he was instructed to be taken to the rehabilitation center.

He was arrested while challenging the government to take action against him.

Bhusal was also reportedly angry that the government was negotiating with political parties instead of addressing public grievances.

He has advocated for direct election of the executive head on March 5 elections.

Two days ago, he had announced plans to stage a protest against the government at Maiti Ghar but did not appear there.
