KATHMANDU: In a speech addressing the program of the newly announced party formed by the merger of 10 different communist factions, coordinator Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ claimed that their party will become the number one party in the country.

He emphasized that after the next elections, their party will take the top spot, and warned that no one should worry or feel threatened.

“Our party—this party—will now become number one. Some people may have a headache over this,” he said.

“Reactionaries may be losing sleep over it. Let them stay awake, but we will become number one,” he added.

Prachanda added that the party’s self-assessment and commitments will be heard by the people.

“But we should not fall into arrogance. We must also unify others,” he said.

“As Madhav Nepal said, we will go to the people, and the people will make us number one,” he asserted.
