KATHMANDU: The 10th National Sports Competition will be held from February 13 to 19 next year.
The 123rd board meeting of the National Sports Council (NSC), held today (Wednesday) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Singha Durbar, set the new dates for the competition.
At the 9th National Games held in Pokhara in 2022, Karnali Province had received the flag for hosting the 10th edition.
At that time, the competition had been announced to take place from November 17 to 24 in 2024.
However, with the change of government, the event fell into uncertainty.
The competition was later scheduled for April 5 to 12, 2025, and then postponed to May, 2025.
Prior to that, the then Minister of Youth and Sports, Tej Lal Chaudhary, had announced that the competition would not take place.
After the change in government, the new Youth and Sports Minister from the Gen Z government, Bablu Gupta, set the new dates in Wednesday’s board meeting.
The government has already allocated Rs 540 million for the competition.
Karnali Province will host the competition for the first time.
For this, the provincial government has spent more than Rs 2 billion to build sports infrastructure.
