Acting President, South Korean Ambassador explore ways to deepen socio-economic ties

KATHMANDU: Acting President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav met with South Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Tae-Young, at the Vice President’s office in Lainchaur on Thursday for a courtesy visit.

The discussion focused on bilateral relations, tourism cooperation, labor and employment, infrastructure development, energy, investment, and people-to-people ties.

Acting President Yadav highlighted the recent formation of a new government after the ‘Gen Z Movement’ and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to democracy, noting that completing the House of Representatives election by March 5, 2026 is a key government responsibility.

He recalled the successful celebration of the 50th anniversary of Nepal–South Korea relations, emphasizing that the partnership is friendly, respectful, and based on mutual understanding.

He acknowledged Korean assistance in Nepal’s socio-economic development and expressed commitment to deepen cooperation.

Acting President Yadav also thanked the Korean government for providing employment opportunities to Nepali youth under the EPS program and highlighted the growing interest of Korean tourists in Nepal, particularly in trekking and mountaineering, noting shared religious and cultural values strengthen bilateral ties.

Ambassador Park reaffirmed South Korea’s friendship, support, and cooperation with Nepal, pledging continued assistance to the new government formed under the Gen Z Movement’s mandate and extending best wishes for the upcoming elections.

He highlighted South Korea’s 30-year support in education, agriculture, and IT sectors, expressed readiness to increase employment opportunities for Nepali workers in Korea, and noted that many Korean companies are interested in investing in Nepal, promising ongoing support to strengthen bilateral relations.
