CHITWAN: Acting President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dol Prasad Aryal, has acknowledged that problems within the party have grown because he has been unable to establish his own core values within the organization.

Aryal made the remarks on Friday while addressing an extended central committee meeting of the party in Sauraha, Chitwan.

He also admitted that the party has failed to curb tendencies that violate internal confidentiality and spark disputes over the political character of leaders.

Speaking before presenting his political report, Aryal said that the inability to instill his own traditions and culture within the party must be corrected in the coming days.

In the political report he submitted, Aryal acknowledged that the party has been unable to convey a clear stance to the public and well-wishers across the country.

“We cannot be strong if we weaken RSP. We must not dig trenches in our own yard,” he said. “Put your hand on your chest and ask yourself: if you were a candidate, would you win the election?”

In his report, Aryal stated that instead of assuming he could win an election, the party might need to look for other candidates.

“We all feel that elections can be won, but not by us—we need a better candidate. We ourselves do not have strong confidence in winning,” he said.

“We are seeking other candidates. Who is at fault for not being able to field a winning candidate from such a large party? Is it only mine, or yours as well? We all need to review this. We must win the next election,” he added.

Aryal also pointed out that there is a tendency within RSP to undermine leaders who have potential, and he stressed that this tendency needs to be corrected.

“The party is recognized by its vision and way of working. We may be heading toward old patterns rather than new ones. If we are not careful, we may fail. Now, it is necessary to ask ourselves whether we will correct ourselves or collapse,” he said.
