BIRTAMODE: The departmental team Nepal Police Club has reached the final of the Jhapa Women’s Gold Cup.
Police secured their spot in the final by defeating Sankata Football Club 2–0 in the first semi-final, which concluded on Friday at the Dudhe Stadium in Shivasatakshi.
The first half ended in a goalless draw. However, Police scored 2 goals in the second half. Police took the lead in the 70th minute.
Meena Deuba scored with a precise header from a free-kick delivered by Puja Rana from about 30 yards away.
In the 82nd minute, Police doubled their lead.
When Sankata’s captain Yashoda Shahi failed to clear the ball, Rekha Paudel seized the opportunity and scored the second goal.
In the final minute of the game, forward Samjhana Lawati missed a golden one-on-one chance.
Towards the end of injury time, Sankata had an opportunity for a consolation goal, but Senu Pariyar’s shot went wide, just past the goalpost.
Police will now face the winner of the match between APF and Tribhuwan Army, which will be held on Saturday, for the title in the final.
