KATHMANDU: Madhes Province Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal has resigned from his post after realizing he would not secure the vote of confidence.

He submitted his resignation to Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal earlier today. The Provincial Assembly was scheduled to hold a session today for the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence.

However, before the vote could take place, Sonal walked out of the assembly after it became clear that he would not receive the required support.
