KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has unveiled the central ‘command’ of the National Volunteer Force (NVF) at Babarmahal in the capital this noon.
This announcement was made during a programme held today by the UML Coordination Mechanism of People’s Organizations, attended by UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli along with other leaders and members, representing all seven provinces.
An eleven-member team has been established under the leadership of Pushparaj Shrestha. The organization’s coordinator, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, disclosed the names of the central secretariat and central committee members of the Force. The team features co-coordinator Keshav Roka, along with Lava Adhikari Yadav, Jaya Ram Lama, Bidur Sharma, Sagar Bhatt, Sanjiv Dhital, and Binita Kafle.
While administering the oath to newly formed National Volunteer Force (NVF), Chair Oli, also former Prime Minister, said that the force will work to protect and assist people during times of crisis and disaster in the country.
He mentioned that it was formed not against anyone but to oppose violence and anarchy. He emphasized that it will help protect public property and secure industrial establishments, working in coordination with security agencies and social organizations.
Chairman Oli reiterated the party’s stance that the political solution of the country can be achieved through the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives.
Addressing the event, leader Dhakal mentioned that the Force will encompass representatives from various party mass organizations and individuals who have previously taken on responsibilities within those organizations.
During the event, UML Politburo member Mahesh Basnet emphasized that the Force will focus on social security initiatives.
