KATHMANDU: Lumbini Lions has set a 144-run target for Sudurpaschim Royals to win in the first match of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket underway in the capital today.
In the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Lumbini which was put to bat first after losing the toss was all-out scoring 143 runs in 19.4 overs.
In today’s match captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 35 while Dilip Nath contribute 31 runs to the team.
On the bowling side, Abhinash Bohora of Sudurpaschim took three wickets, Harmit Singh three wickets and Hemanta Dhami two wickets.
Lumbini, which is under Paudel’s captaincy, is looking for a victory against the undefeated Sudurpaschim. Lumbini is in the sixth place in the score board after emerging victorious in only one out of three matches.
Lumbini aims to keep its ‘playoff’ possibility alive by winning today’s game while at the same time stopping the winning journey of Sudurpaschim so far.
In today’s match, Sudurpaschim elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Led by Deependra Singh Airee, Sudurpaschim is aiming to reach the playoffs by securing a fourth consecutive win.
Sudurpaschim, unbeaten with victories in all three previous games, is at the top with eight points.
Two matches have been scheduled for today. The first match is under way between Lumbini Lions and Sudurpaschim Royals, while the second match will be held at 4:00pm today between Janakpur Bolts and Pokhara Avengers.
