KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the National Assembly (NA), Narayan Prasad Dahal, has expressed hope that Udhauli festival, Yomari Punhi and Jyapu Day that are being observed today will contribute to strengthening mutual goodwill, social bonding, and thereby national unity.
Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Udhauli, the significant cultural festival of the Kirat community, and Yomari Punhi of the Newar community, as well as Jyapu Day (a sub-caste within the Newar community), the Upper House Chair wished all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad peace, happiness, prosperity, and longevity.
“Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural independent nation,” he said, adding that the Constitution guarantees each citizen the right to participate in the cultural life of their respective community.
He further added that both the Udhauli and Yomari festivals highlight the significance of agriculture in our lives.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the Udhauli, the biggest festival of the Kirat community, the NA Vice Chairprson has conveyed her best wishes for happiness, peace, good health, and longevity to all Nepali sisters and brothers living at home and abroad.
