Universal Health Coverage Day: Emphasis laid on quality services

KATHMANDU: Universal Health Coverage Day is being observed today under the slogan ‘Financial security and affordable health service for universal health coverage: Our aspiration’.

Issuing a press release today on the occasion of Universal Health Coverage Day, Curative Service Division of the Department of Health Services shared that strategic action plan would be implemented as per the roadmap prepared for achieving universal access by addressing inequalities existing in health sector.

“Universal health coverage means access to the people of all communities in quality health service without any financial difficulties. This concept covers health promotion, control, treatment, rehabilitation and care that is needed in the second half of the life and it is based on strong primary health service system,” reads the statement.

Division Director Dr Pawan Jung Rayamajhi shared that the universal coverage helps reduce poverty, increase community health level and reduce risk of public health crisis.

The National Health Policy formulated keeping the socio-economic differences, educational status and different health necessities in mind has set a target of creating environment of equitable service consumption among the underserved population, strengthening service delivery and increasing demand of health services from community.
