Thapaliya elected ECON President

KATHMANDU: Dr Ramsharan Thapaliya has been elected President of the Export Council of Nepal.

The 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Council concluded on Wednesday, unanimously electing a new executive committee under the leadership of Thapaliya.

Hari Prasad Dhakal was elected first vice-chair, Hari Dhakal second vice-chair, Basanta Raj Adhikari general secretary, Raju Baniya treasurer, Amrit Man Shrestha secretary, and Harisharan Bhetwal co-treasurer.

The Council facilitates the export of domestically produced handicrafts, felt and metal products, garments, Nepali Dhaka garments, and woolen handmade products.

During the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, exports amounted to Rs 277.30 billion, while in the first four months of the current fiscal year, exports reached Rs 93.5 billion, according to the Council.
