73 senior citizens receive free eye treatment in Parbat

PARBAT: A total of 574 people were provided with eye check-up service in the free eye check-up camp conducted in Kushma. Seventy-three of them were found to have cataract problems.

The two-day free eye check-up camp was conducted here last week by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Himalayan Eye Hospital in collaboration with Lions Club of Himalaya, Kushma and Lions Club of Parbat Alpeshwar.

According to Subas Nepal, External Programme Manager and Ophthalmic Officer at Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Himalaya Eye Hospital, all patients diagnosed with cataracts have undergone free surgery at the camp. Glasses were also distributed free of charge to those needy patients.

A team of healthcare workers led by Dr Hari Bikram Adhikari, an ophthalmologist at Himalaya Eye Hospital, conducted eye examinations and surgeries.

The Hospital has been operating free camps in Gandaki Province and Karnali Province in collaboration with various development partners.

According to Dr Shailesh Kumar Mishra, Executive Director of Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, the organisation has so far established permanent eye care centres in 67 districts of the country and provides eye care services to citizens in all 77 districts.
