KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined marginally on Monday, the second trading day of the week, indicating a mild correction. After a strong gain in the previous session, the benchmark index fell by 3.07 points as short-term investors booked profits, closing at 2,769.09 points.
On the day, the Sensitive Index dropped by 1.65 points, the Float Index by 0.21 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 0.52 points. Despite the dip in indices, total market turnover increased.
A total of 33.32 million shares of 332 companies were traded through 147,676 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 16.35 billion.
Shares of SY Panel Nepal, Him Star Energy, Sanvi Energy, Saptakoshi Development Bank, and Mountain Hydro Nepal were traded at their positive circuit limits. Meanwhile, Corporate Development Bank’s share price surged by nearly 10 percent, while Trade Tower gained more than 9 percent.
Himalayan Power Partner Company recorded the highest trading value of the day, with shares worth Rs 659.3 million exchanged. Ankhu Khola Hydropower Company followed with transactions exceeding Rs 560 million, while Manjushree Finance posted a turnover of over Rs 520 million.
Out of the 13 sub-indices, four closed higher while nine declined. The Hotel and Tourism sub-index led the gains, rising by 1.67 percent. Hydropower, Manufacturing and Processing, and Mutual Fund sub-indices also posted modest increases.
