New pharmaceutical industry to be set up in Bharatpur

CHITWAN: Deurali-Janata Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd is going to establish a state-of-the-art new industry in Bharatpur.

The company is going to invest an additional Rs 4.75 billion in the venture. Haribhakta Sharma, Executive Director of the Pharmaceuticals, said the construction work for the second unit of the industry has begun in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–16.

The initial work has been moved forward. It is in the stage of obtaining permission from the government agencies for the construction of additional structures.

He said that the goal is to complete the construction works of the new unit of the industry within two years.

The industry plans to work on building the main structure in the next two months. Sharma mentioned that once this unit is completed, it will create direct employment opportunities for about 550 people.

Deurali–Janata is Nepal’s leading pharmaceutical company that has been producing essential life-saving medicines domestically for the past 35 years. Currently, the company produces 296 types of medicines including capsules, tablets, liquids, ointments, and dry powders.

Executive Director Sharma stated that this industry, which has obtained international WHO GMP, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, is contributing towards making the country self-reliant by reducing dependence on medicine imports.
