KATHMANDU: In preparation for the Maha Shivaratri festival, cleaning has been carried out in the Pashupati area. The Maha Shivaratri is being observed on February 15 this year.
In the 665th week of the Bagmati Cleaning Campaign, cleaning was carried out at Pashupati’s Suryaghat, Aryaghat, and Ram Temple areas in preparation for the Maha Shivaratri.
Kishore Singh Shahi, a worker of the cleaning campaign, informed RSS that four metric tons of waste was managed during the cleaning campaign. He also mentioned that the non-biodegradable waste collected from the cleaning was managed using vehicles from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
Due to the increased garbage observed along the Bagmati riverbank from Bhasmeshwarghat to the dam, the Committee has agreed to clean it using a bulldozer. Today’s cleanup saw active participation from campaign workers, including Prakash Mani Sharma, Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, and Machakaji Maharjan, Project Chief of the Empowered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee.
Next Saturday, cleaning bid will take place in the Pashupati area again with the participation of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force.
The Bagmati Cleanup Campaign, which started on Jestha 5, 2070 BS (19 May 2013) has been running continuously every Saturday.
