KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has stated that the death of senior actor Sunil Thapa has caused an irreplaceable loss in the Nepali film industry.

In a condolence statement he issued on behalf the party, Acting Chief Secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Office, Krishna Prasad Dulal, expressed deep sorrow over Thapa’s death at the age of 68 while undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital in Thapathali, Kathmandu.

The NC has stated that the untimely demise of senior actor Thapa has caused an irreparable loss not only to the Nepali but also to the Indian film industry. Congress has noted that the void left by Thapa, as a multifaceted personality, hardworking artist, and exemplary performer, will be felt for a long time.

The party has stated that Thapa’s strong, dedicated, and inspirational contribution to acting, modelling, sports, and various dimensions of the film industry for over four decades will always remain indelibly recorded in the history of Nepali cinema.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has expressed deep sorrow over the death of actor Thapa.

“The news of the passing of senior Nepali film actor Sunil Thapa ‘Rate Kaila’ has left me stunned and saddened. His death is an irreplaceable loss to the entire film industry, as he had played significant roles in Nepali and Indian cinema,” President Thapa said in a condolence message.

He paid heartfelt tribute to the late actor Thapa, wishing eternal peace to his soul and expressing deep condolences on behalf of the party and himself to the bereaved family. ‘Thapa’s contribution to the Nepali film industry is unforgettable’

Similarly, Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has stated that he is saddened by the death of eminent personality of the Nepali film industry, Sunil Thapa.

In a condolence message today, Dahal paid heartfelt tribute to Thapa and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and well-wishers. Coordinator Dahal stated that the contribution of actor Thapa to the Nepali film industry will ever remain memorable for all of us.

Actor Thapa passed away this morning at the age of 68 due to a heart attack.
