JANAKPUR: Authorities have removed posters, banners, stickers, and flags placed in public spaces in violation of the Election Code of Conduct in the Janakpurdham area.
Following repeated complaints to the Election Office, political parties and candidates were instructed to remove the publicity materials on their own. When the directive was ignored, the District Police Office carried out monitoring within the Janakpurdham Sub Metropolitan City area on Saturday and removed more than 1,500 illegal materials.
Police said the materials had been pasted on public places, electricity poles, walls, and government structures, all of which violate the Election Code of Conduct.
During the monitoring, District Police Office Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam said the Rastriya Swatantra Party committed the highest number of violations.
He added that the Election Office has warned that legal action may be taken against parties and candidates who fail to comply with the Code of Conduct, prompting regular monitoring.
The local administration, police, and other concerned agencies have urged all political parties to act responsibly to ensure a fair, independent, and clean election. Authorities said monitoring will continue in the coming days, and strict action will be taken if violations are repeated.
