SARLAHI: A 15 year old boy was injured in a gun related incident on Thursday in Malangwa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi. The boy, a resident of Malangwa Municipality 4 and son of Ramvishwas Ram, was shot while handling an abandoned pistol he had found near the Dhaka Border area in the same ward.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai of the District Police Office, the firearm had been wrapped in a red cloth and left inside a corner of an under construction Hanuman temple. The pistol reportedly discharged while the boy was playing with it, believing it to be a toy. The bullet struck the palm of his right hand.
Police said the injured teenager is receiving treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Malangwa and is out of danger.
Authorities are investigating whether the recovered weapon may be linked to the fatal shooting of sub engineer Pramod Kumar Yadav in Malangwa last Sunday. The case remains under investigation.
