KATHMANDU: The entire preparations for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5 are almost over, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The ballot papers, ballot boxes and all election materials for the elections have already been taken to the districts across the country.
The voting officers in the hilly and mountainous districts already moved to their booths by receiving the election materials while the officials in the Tarai-Madhesh and urban districts are receiving training on election.
EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that the officials were mobilized to the voting centres in the remote districts along with the election materials. Now, the priority is towards the election constituencies from the districts, Bhattarai elaborated.
It is said that the voting officers in most of the district received the training on elections. Spokesperson Bhattarai mentioned that the federal government and concerned local levels have been requested to provide physical properties including the schools, health institutions, ward offices and others to run them as the voting centres.
Furthermore, the EC had already taken decisions regarding election security, the operation of essential services, and the facilitation, coordination and management of election and voting procedures, according to Spokesperson Bhattarai.
In the HoR elections, a total of 215,000 officials are being deployed across the country. And, the EC has published a total of 42,251,200 ballot papers for both proportional electoral system and first-past-the-post electoral system.
Similarly, four international and 39 national organizations are in the field to observe the HoR elections.
Meanwhile, the RSS correspondent in Chitwan reported that the election materials were sent to all three election constituencies in Chitwan district and the training to all the officials deployed for the election was imparted, Chief of District Election Office Bhimsen Karki shared.
