KATHMANDU: In preparation for the formulation of the budget of the upcoming fiscal year 2082–83 BS (2026–27), the government has invited public submissions regarding tax rates and revenue policies.
The Revenue Consultation Committee, formed following the decision of the Council of Ministers on February 11, aims to collect substantive recommendations on revenue policies, tax structures, customs rates, revenue administration, and broader economic reform issues prior to the budget formulation. The committee, led by the Revenue Secretary, has requested stakeholders to submit their suggestions on the aforementioned matters by April 13.
Submissions may be made through the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Inland Revenue Department, Department of Customs, Department of Revenue Investigation, Department of Money Laundering Investigation, as well as other departments and offices under the Ministry of Finance.
It will also collect submissions concerning policy and legal reforms in areas such as industrial promotion and protection, import-export regulation, trade in services, investment promotion, supply management, and tax and non-tax incentives.
The Committee will also furnish suggestions for resolving problems facing banking and financial institutions, insurance, remittance, capital market, cooperatives, realty market, and revenue mobilization. International, regional and national economies would be compared, analysed and recommendations furnished accordingly.
