KATHMANDU: While vote counting under the first-past-the-post system in the House of Representatives election has been completed, counting of proportional representation (PR) votes is still underway.
According to the latest data from the Election Commission, a total of 10,534,451 votes have been counted so far. Altogether 10,977,711 votes were cast under the proportional representation system nationwide.
The Election Commission said that around 400,000 votes are still left to be counted.
According to the results counted so far, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is leading with 5,047,949 votes. The Nepali Congress is in second place with 1,711,688 votes, while the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has received 778,165 votes.
Similarly, the Shram Sanskriti Party has secured 367,013 votes, followed by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party with 326,915 votes. The Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal has received 173,067 votes, the Rastriya Pariwartan Party 167,409 votes, and the Janmat Party 77,961 votes.
Vote counting is still ongoing, and the Election Commission said that the entire counting process is expected to be completed by tomorrow.
