NEPSE recovers by 23.87 points, turnover reaches Rs. 14.551 billion

KATHMANDU: On the final trading day of the week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed with an increase of 23.87 points. Rising by 0.85 percent compared to the previous trading day (Wednesday), NEPSE halted at 2820.44 points today (Thursday).

On this day, the Sensitive Index also rose by 5.01 points and stopped at the 486.38 mark. In terms of percentage, this is 1.04 percent higher compared to the previous day.

In the stock market on Thursday, at least 41,686,405 shares were bought and sold through 130,015 transactions of 335 companies. Accordingly, a turnover of Rs. 14.551 billion took place on Thursday. On Wednesday, a turnover of Rs. 13.18 billion was recorded. On Tuesday, the turnover was Rs. 21.502 billion.

The share prices of 176 companies increased in the stock market today. While the share prices of only 77 companies decreased, the share prices of nine companies remained stable. Out of the 13 groups traded on NEPSE on Thursday, only three groups saw a decrease in trade. The sub-indices of the remaining 10 groups moved upward.

Accordingly, the index of the Commercial Bank group increased by 2.02, Development Bank by 1.28, and Finance by 1.30 percent, while the sub-index of the Hotel and Tourism group decreased by 0.35 percent.

Similarly, the indices of hydropower rose by 1.10, investment by 1.14, life insurance by 0.36, the manufacturing and processing group by 0.73, the microfinance group by 0.27, and the mutual fund group by 0.48 percent.

While non-life insurance decreased by 0.04 and others by 0.74 percent, the index of the trading group increased by 0.14 percent.

On Thursday, a positive circuit was hit in the share prices of Salpa Bikas Bank and Reliance Spinning Mills on NEPSE. That is, the investors of Salpa and Reliance earned 10 percent. Meanwhile, Kumari Sabal Yojana Mutual Fund decreased by 3.72 percent.

In terms of transaction amount, the highest turnover today was for National Hydropower Company, worth Rs. 677.9 million. Likewise, in terms of the number of shares traded, the highest number of shares bought and sold was the promoter shares of Hydropower Investment and Development Company, with 2.6 million shares. The final trading price was maintained at Rs. 220 per share.
