Western Nepal Hit by Continuous Seismic Tremors

A series of earthquakes has rattled western Nepal, with the latest tremor of 4.0 magnitude hitting Murai, Darchula, at 8:32 AM on Thursday. This follows a 4.1 magnitude earthquake centered in Rayal, Bajhang, on March 23 (Chaitra 9), and another 4.1 magnitude shock in Murai the same day. Earlier, a 4.0 magnitude tremor was recorded in Sitoula, Darchula, on March 17, and a 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck Chainpur, Bajhang, on March 6. Seismologists continue to monitor the region as frequent aftershocks cause alarm among local residents.

New MPs Sworn In Following March 5 Elections

Newly elected members of the House of Representatives took their oath of office on Thursday afternoon at the newly constructed multipurpose hall in Singha Durbar. Senior member Arjun Narasingh KC, who was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Wednesday, administered the oath. Following the elections held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) emerged as the largest party with 182 seats.
