BAGLUNG: The measles outbreak that spread in Dhorpatan, Baglung, has yet to come under control. The infection was reported in Wards 7, 8, and 9 of Dhorpatan Municipality on February 20.

Although the number of infections decreased after children and adolescents in the area were vaccinated from March 13 to 16, the situation has not been fully brought under control. A team consisting of the World Health Organization, the Provincial Public Health Office in Baglung, and local health workers had conducted a study and launched a vaccination campaign in the affected areas to control the outbreak. 

According to Prabin Sharma, chief of the Provincial Public Health Office, while the daily number of new infections has decreased since the vaccination drive, the outbreak has not been completely controlled. He stated that there are also two suspected cases in Taman Khora Rural Municipality, adjacent to Dhorpatan.

Sharma reported that 13 cases have been confirmed so far. Samples from 33 individuals showing symptoms of measles have been collected and sent to the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu.

Raj Khadka, vaccination supervisor at the Provincial Public Health Office, stated that 5,934 children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19 have been vaccinated so far. Currently, there are 205 suspected cases, and four patients are undergoing treatment at a hospital. The Provincial Public Health Office has announced plans to administer vaccines in all four municipalities of western Baglung after suspected cases appeared in Taman Khora.
