KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has expressed gratitude to Japan government for its assistance to Nepal’s development endeavours.

During a courtesy call paid by Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Maeda Toru, at Home Ministry on Wednesday, Minister Gurung hoped Japan would continue such assistance for Nepal’s socio-economic development in the days ahead.

He appreciated Japan’s assistance to construction of various infrastructures like under-construction Nagdhunga tunnel way. These infrastructures have significantly contributed to Nepal’s development, Gurung added.

Minister Gurung’s secretariat shared that the Minister pointed out the need of exchanging skills and experiences in disaster risk reduction and disaster response in addition to fostering technical collaboration. He requested Japan for extending technical support to Nepal in establishing a university to conduct study and research on disaster management.

On the occasion, Ambassador Maeda informed that Nepali community was also contributing to Japan’s socioeconomic and education sectors. He vowed robust collaboration on Nepal-Japan migration.
