SYANGJA: The Ward 8 office of Bhirkot Municipality, Syangja, has begun providing free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 100,000 to 600 students enrolled in 11 community schools under a child-friendly initiative. The program, launched on April 14, covers students from early childhood education to Grade 10.

According to ward officials, the insurance is issued based on birth certificates and applies to students studying within Bhirkot Municipality, including those outside Ward 8 in both community and institutional schools.

Medical treatment will be covered through hospitals participating in the health insurance system, while reimbursements will be provided for services received at other facilities based on submitted bills.

The ward has also introduced a separate incentive to promote birth registration, depositing Rs 5,000 into bank accounts opened in the name of newborn children.
