KATHMANDU: Samikshya Baskota, a Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee under the House of Representatives.

A meeting of the committee held on Friday selected her for the position. Earlier, a parliamentary party meeting of the RSP on Thursday had nominated her as the party’s candidate for the post.

Following her election, Baskota expressed happiness at being elected unopposed, while noting that the responsibility ahead is significant. She said the committee’s work would move forward through discussion and coordination among all members.
